In May 2007, seven women met to organize a non-profit corporation called the Spiral
Dance Womyn's Center: Dr. Laurie J. Kendall, Dr. Joan Rabin, Stephanie Thompson,
Dorthea DeStephano, Anne Johnson, Denise Cumor, and Antoinette Nelson.

Individually, they brought their own power and creativity, as well as wisdom and
experience to the table, but none of them could have imagined the energy they
would generate in each other's presence, or the dynamic "board of advisors and
protectors" they would become.

Finally, on February 2nd, 2008, Bobbie DeVoll, Jess Kell, Dr. Laurie Kendall, and
Denise Cumor applied for a 501(c)3.  The executive board of the Spiral Dance
Womyn's Center is currently awaiting the federal determination letter.

As well as providing its own services and activities, a larger vision for the womyn's
center is that it will become a nucleus where many womyn's groups, organizations,
and businesses can meet, network, and host their own programs.

Volunteers and Interns Needed

  • We currently need an intern or volunteer to be our
computer wizzardess; one who is computer savvy
and can help us build an information data base as well
    as maintain a MySpace page.

  • We currently need two or three volunteers or interns
to develop a regular weekend coffee house/dance
program for womyn between 18 and 20 years old.
This would entail clearing, cleaning, and creating the
space in the basement, designing the program,
working the events, and networking with womyn on
    several college campuses.
